The demand for home health nursing services has been on the rise due to an aging population and a preference for receiving care in the comfort of one’s home. Home health nurses are typically registered nurses (RNs) or licensed practical nurses (LPNs) who are trained to provide specialized care in a home setting, focusing on OASIS assessments.
Regulatory Oversight: Home health agencies are subject to state and federal regulations to ensure the quality and safety of care provided to patients. CMS is the governing body for home health agencies, with additional accreditation by the state, the Joint Commission and ACHC.
Job Opportunities: The demand for home health nurses has led to job opportunities in this field, making it an attractive career option for nurses. The following will influence the home health nurse salary: Geographic Location: The location where a home health nurse practices can have a significant impact on their salary. In general, urban areas and regions with a higher cost of living tend to offer higher salaries than rural areas. Experience: Nurses with more years of experience in the field often earn higher salaries. Experienced home health nurses may also be eligible for leadership positions or specialized roles, which can come with higher pay. Education and Certification: Home health nurses who hold advanced degrees or certifications, such as a Master's in Nursing or certification in a specialty area like wound care or gerontology, may command higher salaries. Employer Type: Home health nurses can work for various types of employers, including home health agencies, hospices, hospitals, and government organizations. Compensation may vary based on the type of employer. Full-Time vs. Part-Time: The work schedule can also impact a home health nurse's salary. Full-time nurses generally receive benefits and a more stable income, while part-time or per-diem nurses may have a variable income.
Home health companies also employ Physical, Speech and Occupational Therapists, as well as CNAs and Medical Social Workers. AAMP also offers a complete OASIS-E Charting Course for Physical Therapists.
Upon the successful completion of the AAMP courses, you will receive a downloadable PDF Certificate of Completion for the course of your choice. These certificates are recognized throughout the United States and Puerto Rico.
The prerequisite for taking the online AAMP courses is the successful completion of a nursing program, PT/OT/ST program and/or any CNA program. The ICD-10 Home Health Coding course does not require medical training. The office personnel working in the Home Health field, such as Administrators and Quality Assurance personnel may take all courses as well.
Course enrollment is rolling and you can start your course at any time.
The AAMP courses are built to be taken at your own pace. Typically a course will take around 2-3 weeks to complete while studying part time and 3 days full time.
